Police say that a couple of teenagers with some hot identification opened several Sears’s credit accounts in other people’s names and then went on a shopping spree of a lifetime. Officers say that the two racked up charges of more than $7,000 in Hicksville New York at a local Sears store and caught the attention of the loss prevention department.
Store managers and loss prevention agents continued to monitor their shopping excursion as they grabbed three high priced TV sets, a video game console, a high definition DVD camcorder and other electronics making their way through the high end electronics department.
The two proudly presented their newly approved Gold Master Cards as they continued their purchasing spree but security managers quickly suspected that this was a case of fraud and called police in to assist them in the investigation.
The two happy shoppers lost their joy as police and security agents approached them and learned that Tyquan Gooding, 18, of 435 Linden Blvd. and Brian Mulgrave, 17, of 838 Brooklyn Ave. had indeed used someone else's information to obtain the credit cards and had been issued temporary shopping passes.
The two were arrested and charged with identity theft, grand larceny, forgery, criminal possesion of stolen property. Mulgrave also faces an additional charge of resisting arrest.
Gooding and Mulgrave are scheduled to appear for arraignment at First district Court, Hempstead.
