A security officer was one of two people who were injured early Sunday morning when gunfire erupted at a pool hall in the southeast area of Oklahoma City. police said.
Authorities now say that an armed security officer returned fire after several men entered the club and opened fire in an all night pool hall located at 3900 South High St.
Capt. Lisa Camacho said that it appears that the security officer and a second person were the only two hit during the gunfire.
Investigators believe the men intended to rob the pool hall, she said.
The security officer was hit with several gunshots and was taken by ambulance to the Oklahoma University Medical Center, where he was in critical condition Sunday.
Police say that they did talk to some witnesses and several people reported seeing three persons leaving the pool hall shortly after the shooting, but no descriptions of the suspects or their vehicle were available, police said.
Authorities did not say if the robbers immediately began shooting or if they attempted to rob the business and fired after meeting resistance. Right now things are a bit sketchy one officer said and investigators are still processing the scene, interviewing witnesses and gathering physical evidence.
Authorities said that they hope to learn more from the victims who are in the hospital.
