Shoplifter now faces serious drug offense by; Rick McCann www.privateofficer.com


Port Washington WI. March 22 2008 - A 20-year-old Grafton woman has been charged with heroin possession police said after they found drugs on her during a shoplifting call at a Grafton department store, according to a criminal complaint filed in Ozaukee County.
According to the complaint, Valerie C. Murray was detained for suspicion of shoplifting Nov. 27 at Kohl's Department Store in Grafton.
During a search, a Grafton police officer found three foil packets containing an off-white substance in the pocket of Murray's coat. Tests by the State Crime Laboratory now has confirmed that the substance was heroin, the complaint says.
Murray told police she found the packets in her mother's car and believed they belonged to someone else and that she was on her way to turn them over to the other person's probation officer, the complaint says.
Murray is scheduled to make her initial court appearance April 16. If convicted, she could be imprisoned up to 3 1/2 years.
