Staten Island NY March 22 2008
Authorities say that a man-and-woman shoplifting team now face robbery charges after the man pulled a knife on a store employee when they attempted to steal a grooming appliance from a CVS drugstore and were challenged by the night manager.
Ricardo Hines, 42, and Crystal Santiago, 18, of the 900 block of Manor Road in Castleton Corners, walked into the CVS at 1933 Victory Blvd. at about 3 a.m. Tuesday, according to the police report. Hines alledgedly stuffed a Conair Haircut Kit into a bag, and as they were about to make their get-away the night manager confronted them, and that’s when Hines pulled a knife, police say.
"I'm going to use this. Get out of my way," Hines allegedly said.
Police were called and responded to the area where they soon arrested the pair not long after, charging them with first-degree robbery and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
Both were being held pending a bond hearing.
