Bradenton Fla. March 19 2008
A Bradenton man has been arrested on charges of burglarizing and damaging a Manatee County Sheriff's Office vehicle.
Detectives say Lawrence A. Goings II, 22, of the 4500 block of 27th Street West, broke into an unmarked sheriff's vehicle used by a detective on March 3.
Goings got into the vehicle by breaking out the driver's side window, the sheriff's report said.
He then is suspected of opening the hood and stealing a headlight assembly from the vehicle, the sheriff's report said.
Goings is also accused of stealing a spare battery for the detective's radio. The detective also lost an I-Pod case, headphones and an eyeglass case in the theft.
The detective viewed surveillance video of the parking lot of his apartment complex, which showed a vehicle entering and leaving the complex at the time of the burglary.
Deputies later spotted the same car Monday at DeSoto Square mall and began questioning Goings. He admitted to the theft and was arrested on charges of burglary to an emergency vehicle, grand theft and criminal mischief.
