Walmart employees discharge Pepper Spray, 16 injured www.privateofficer.com

Pepper spray discharged by a pair of Wal-Mart employees playing with a can they found in a cart sickened more than a dozen people in the Valley Stream store Saturday night, Nassau police said.

The Wal-Mart shopping cart collectors, whose identities were not made public, found the spray in a cart and began spraying each other for sport, said Nassau police spokesman Officer Thomas Brussell.

The mist saturated their clothes, wafted through the air and sickened a total of 16 people at the store, located in the Green Acres Mall, he said
Ambulances and emergency personnel were dispatched to the store and offered aid for runny noses, itchy eyes and scratchy throats, but no one was taken to the hospital, Brussell said.

The authorities determined that the spray was civilian grade.

The owner of the pepper spray has not been located.

No criminal charges are expected to be filed against the two Wal-Mart employees who discharged the spray."There was no mal intent or anything like that," Brussell said.

Wal-Mart management could not be immediately reached for comment.
