Recent police academy graduate arrested for DUI www.privateofficer.com

NASHVILLE, Tenn. March 19 2008-- A Metro police officer who graduated from the academy a week and a half ago was arrested Sunday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Police say Officer Stephanie Callahan was driving down Shelby Avenue and tried to make a right turn onto South 19th Street.
Callahan crashed her Ford Explorer and left the scene of the wreck without calling police or notifying the property owner.
A fellow police co-worker that was working the crash investigation was able to sort out the situation.
"He was able to contact her. She returned to the scene, and she indicated she was the driver," said Metro police spokeswoman Kristin Mumford.
She later came back to the crash scene and agreed to submit to a breathalyzer test, which she then blew double the legal limit.
Callahan has been charged with driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident.
She was assigned as a field training officer at the Hermitage precinct. Callahan is currently on desk duty pending the outcome of the investigation.
