Memphis police are investigating an unusual case that started on Monday night in which someone drove into a parking garage at Oak Court Mall and then left, leaving a critically injured man in the front passenger seat of the vehicle with the emergency flashers blinking.
The car sat there police say for at least 10-15 minutes or more before another shopper pulling into the lower level of the garage came upon the vehicle and saw the injured man and notified mall security who then called police and the medics.
Police Lt. Col. Ray Douglas said that the 911 Center got the call around 6pm and investigators immediately began looking for witnesses and checking for a crime scene but Douglas didn’t say if police believe that the shooting happened at the mall or at another location or if they had any suspects in the shooting.
Authorities did say that they were checking security camera footage and were continuing their investigation.
The unnamed wounded man was in critical condition in an area hospital.
