DUA Vietnamese Noodle Soup and its sibling concept, Fish Bowl Poke, both have new locations in the works in Atlanta.
Selig Enterprises has secured a lease with DUA Vietnamese Noodle Soup to open a dual branded restaurant at the developers' 12th & Midtown project. The restaurant, which will reportedly carry the banners of both DUA and Fish Bowl Poke, will offer menu items from both concepts in a single space. The two restaurants will open in the former MAX's Wine Dive space on Crescent Avenue near 12th Street, between BurgerFi and Princi Italia.
Another Fish Bowl Poke is planned for Toco Hill Promenade, to the right of Publix, which anchors the center. The poke shop will open in place of I Love Juice Bar, which opened and closed in short order in 2015.
DUA currently operates three locations, one on Broad Street near Georgia State, one on Tara Road in Jonesboro, and another on West Lanier Avenue in Fayetteville. There are currently two Fish Bowl Poke locations in metro Atlanta: The original is on Broad Street in a space that previously operated as DUA 2 Go and a second Fish Bowl opened last week in the Sweet Auburn Curb Market, not far from Georgia State's main campus. According to the Fish Bowl website, the company also operates a location in Frisco, Texas.
The Toco Hills Fish Bowl location is reportedly expected to open in November followed by the dual midtown locations in December/January.
Poke, which is essentially deconstructed sushi in a bowl, has exploded in popularity in recent months with over a dozen shops either open or coming soon in metro Atlanta.
With poke fast becoming the next froyo, the midtown DUA and Fish Bowl Poke dual-branded store with more variety should ensure that it has a longer life than most poke places surely will. DUA, which specializes in pho and other Vietnamese delights is not without competition though with the Pho King already open at nearby Plaza Midtown on West Peachtree Street and the Kinjo Brothers (owners of MF Sushi) reportedly finally edging closer to opening their Vietnamese eatery, Anh's Kitchen, at Viewpoint on Peachtree Street in midtown.
Are you excited for the additions of DUA and Fish Bowl Poke to midtown and Fish Bowl Poke to Toco Hills? Why do you think so many restaurants have struggled to survive in the 12th & Midtown corridor? Where have you found the best poke in Atlanta?
