A Hanover Township teenager was put in cuffs Thursday night for threatening he had a gun at the Woodlands Inn and Resort, and later for assaulting a security officer at a local hospital, Plains Township police said.
A Hanover Township teenager was put in cuffs Thursday night for threatening he had a gun at the Woodlands Inn and Resort, and later for assaulting a security officer at a local hospital, Plains Township police said.
Police said they first got the suspect, Thomas A. Sychtyz, 19, after getting a report of a man with a handgun at the Woodlands.
Security told police Sychtyz allegdlgy tried to get a bottle of liquor from the club, then grabbed his waistband and said he had a gun when confronted, according to police reports.No gun was found.
Sychtyz was taken to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township for minor injuries. There, police said he became unruly and violent. He punched a hospital security guard in the face and head, police said.
Sychtyz is charged with terroristic threats, theft, disorderly conduct, recklessly endangering another person, underage drinking and public drunkenness in connection with the first incident.
In the second incident, he was charged with assault, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, underage drinking and harassment.The suspect was behind bars overnight in the Luzerne County Correctional Facility. He was later released from jail around 6:15 p.m. after posting $6,000 cash bail.
The arrest wasn’t the only police action at the Woodlands on Thursday night. Four people who went to a party at the complex reported many windows of their vehicles were broken and their purses were missing.Anyone with information on those cases is asked to call Plains police at 829-3432.
