Security officers assaulted at Sweet 16 party, 2 arrested www.privateofficer.com


MACON GA. March 18 2008
Macon Police Officers arrested two people after a fight broke out the Georgia Music Hall of Fame Friday night.

According to an incident report from the Macon Police Department, Tracy Clarke hosted a "Sweet Sixteen" party for her daughter at the Music Hall of Fame.

Seven private security officers were working at the party.

The security officers told police several boys dressed in blue showed up at the party and showed gang signs.

Security officer Eric McClendon said they tried to remove the boys from the party. He says when they got outside, the boys began hitting the guards.

According to the incident report, Macon Police Capt. Carolyn Glover was also working off-duty security at the party. She said the fight spead to her patrol car, and she called for assistance. Macon Police Officers and Bibb County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the fight. According to Sgt. Melanie Hofmann, officers arrested two juvenile men after they found a stolen handgun underneath the seat of their car.

The men face charges of theft by receving stolen property, deadly weapons at public gatherings and possession of a pistol by a person under the age of eighteen.

The incident report says no one was seriously hurt, but Sgt. Jason Shelton received a slight injury when someone hit him in the face.
