Repeat shoplifting offender sent to jail www.privateofficer.com

ANDERSON SC March 20 2008 — When Anderson police were told that a 51-year-old Anderson man was violating a trespass notice by being in the parking lot of Sears at Anderson Mall, their observation quickly revealed that he had already committed crimes at another big-box retailer.
According to Tuesday’s testimony in Anderson Municipal Court and the incident report, Wayne Smith had “a big bulge in his shirt” and in his pants.
Anderson Police Officer Brigette Parsley said she found a stolen remote-controlled dog collar and an in-ground fence, both valued at $259, according to the incident report.
Mr. Smith, who was on trespass notice from Home Depot, stole the items about 2 p.m. Monday from the do-it-yourself, Clemson Boulevard store, the report states.
Mr. Smith pleaded guilty to violating a trespass notice and possession of stolen property, both involving Home Depot.
“I was getting money to drugs,” said Mr. Smith to Judge Ken Mattison before the judge ordered him to pay fines of $1,552.50 or serve 60 days at the Anderson City Jail.
