The AJC reports that longtime Roswell restaurants Greenwood’s on Green Street and Swallow at the Hollow both closed December 31. The closures, which were not announced and are not mentioned on the restaurant's Facebook page, were confirmed via a recorded phone message at both restaurants.
“We have permanently closed our doors for business,” the message said. “We appreciate your business over the years and thank you very much if you were a patron of the restaurant.”
Bill Greenwood opened Greenwood’s at 1087 Green St. in 1986, followed by barbecue eatery Swallow at the Hollow at 1072 Green St. in 1999. Special event facility The Yellow House, which featured food from both Greenwood's and Swallow at the Hollow and was located at 1088 Green Street, also closed.
It's unclear what is being done to accommodate existing bookings at The Yellow House such as weddings, bar mitzvahs, etc. Julie White Stephens, owner of Roswell's Kimball Hall, another event venue, has expressed the desire to help any brides who had their rehearsal dinner booked at The Yellow House.
Farm-to-table eatery Greenwood’s was known for its fried chicken and other traditional Southern fare, while Swallow at the Hollow’s menu featured Hickory-smoked barbecue options including baby back ribs, pork, beef and smoked sausage, chicken and turkey.
